My own mother and father don’t want anything to do with me. How lovable can I really be?

I wish I could take a chance on him, but I can’t. My heart wouldn’t survive it. I’m going to give it a few days and then leave to stay with Katie.

I lie back and rest most of the day. I have texted back and forth with Katie and she assures me she is fine. I still haven’t thanked her for saving my life, but I will. She promises to come and see me within the next few days.

When I wake up later in the day, I notice that there are clothes folded on the dresser. I get up to take a closer look. While I’m standing there, Mason knocks on the door softly and cracks it open.

“You’re awake! How are you feeling?” he asks me.

“Better. A whole lot better actually. I think I’m going to take a shower if that’s okay.”

He points to the clothes on the dresser. There are shorts, shirts, socks, underwear and bras all folded neatly on top.

“I had a friend bring you some clothes.”

“Uh, that’s okay, I don’t want to take someone else’s clothes. I can figure out something.”

“No, I bought them,” he says. “I just didn’t want to leave you, so I had a friend go pick them out.”

“Was it your girlfriend?” I ask him and then put my hand over my mouth because I can’t believe I said that out loud.

All he does his turn his head to the side like he’s trying to understand what I’m thinking.

“Girlfriend? Well, she’s a girl and a friend. But not what you mean. I figure you would fare better with her picking them out instead of Nash. It’s hard telling what he would have gotten you… but as for the girlfriend part, she’s not my girlfriend. That position is saved for you, Allison. I thought I covered that.”

The whole time he’s talking he walks closer until he stops right in front of me. I put my head back to look up at him. He looks at me like he thinks I’m beautiful, but I know I’m a mess. I try to look down because the heated glance we share is too much for me to handle. But he doesn’t let me. His hand comes up to cup my cheek and he stops me from turning away.

“How’s your head feeling?” he asks huskily.

I lick my lips and reply, “Uh, better, it feels a lot better.”

“Good. I’m going to kiss you now, Allison. Like I’ve been wanting to.”

He doesn’t give me any time to respond. He bends down and when his lips press against mine, time stands still. I go up on tiptoe to try and get closer to him and he pulls me up in his arms so that my body is crushed against him and his hardness is pressing into my belly. I gasp and he takes that opportunity to deepen the kiss by sweeping his tongue inside my mouth.
